Small Circle Jujitsu
A distinctive website for a martial arts school in Fleet, Hampshire

The Problem
A martial arts school needed a website that captured the precision, philosophy, and heritage of Small Circle Jujitsu. Not a generic gym site with stock photos and a class timetable - something that reflected the discipline itself.
The challenge was translating a physical, deeply traditional art form into a digital experience that felt authentic rather than corporate.
The Approach
Deep brand work came first. I studied the history and principles of Small Circle Jujitsu to develop a visual language that honoured the tradition - calligraphy elements, traditional colour palettes, and careful typography that feels intentional rather than decorative.
The interactive principles wheel became the centrepiece: a way to explore the core tenets of the art without reading walls of text. Every design decision was in service of the school's identity, not my portfolio.
Built in React with attention to performance and mobile experience, because most prospective students would find it on their phone.
The Creative Direction
The emblem, the ink warrior, the whole visual language - the creative direction was mine, end to end. I studied the art, set the aesthetic, and executed it with AI rather than handing it to a studio. This is design taste applied, not a template dressed up.
